My father once told me that when you’ve got a good person working on a job, you don’t throw them over for another without experience. Seemed good common sense to me then, and it still does. We’ve got just such a situation right now in Kennebec County. Patsy Crockett, who filled Bev Daggett’s vacant seat as county commissioner, is on the job and doing real well — keeping the budget in line while making sure that the needs of the sheriff’s office and the county jail are addressed properly.

The proposed county budget is “tighter than a tick” and county taxpayers won’t need to worry about it taking a bite out of their wallets. I say, let’s keep Patsy Crockett on the job and give her two years to prove she’s the right choice. Vote for her on June 14.
