FRENCHVILLE — Maine State Police say a seat belt saved the life of a 21-year-old man who lost control of his car and drove into the corner of a house in Frenchville, then landed upside down.

Police say Ryan Remalia of Madawaska was traveling east on Route 1 just before midnight Saturday when he lost control of his Mitsubishi Lancer. They say the vehicle came to rest on its roof after pulling down utility lines.

Authorities say the home was occupied at the time, but only Remalia was injured. He was taken to Northern Maine Medical Center for treatment with what police described as non-life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
