COLEBROOK, N.H. — The federal government is seeking the financial records of a Vermont man in hopes of recovering grant money that he stole while running a Maine munitions plant during the mid-2000s.

The Caledonian Record reports a Maine federal court judge approved a motion filed last month by U.S. attorneys to begin a post-judgment discovery of 67-year-old Craig Sanborn’s financial condition.

Sanborn was convicted of wire fraud after defrauding the town of Brownville out of $300,000 in Community Development Block Grant funding.

Prosecutors seek to depose Sanborn under federal civil procedure rules and subpoena his wife to produce financial documents.

Sanborn is serving a 10- to 20-year sentence for manslaughter in connection with a May 2010 explosion at his Black Mag gunpowder plant in Colebrook, New Hampshire.
