OAKLAND — Maine’s Lumbering History will be the topic at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, at Oakland public Library, 18 Church St.

Howard Hardy, an axe and tool expert, will be the guest speaker. There will be displays of axes, saws and other tools used by lumbermen in the past.

The talk will cover long log and pulpwood harvest and the means of getting them to the mills.

A historic black and white film “King Spruce” will be shown, along with a slide show of old logging scenes.

A discussion will follow with an opportunity to ask questions and share experiences.
