During the spring and summer, I attend five town meetings so that I am available to answer any questions about library services to our partner towns. I am so grateful that most residents at these meetings overwhelmingly support the Gardiner Public Library and all that we offer to our communities.
Each year, so many people are concerned about the tax base, and the tax burden has become unbearable in some municipalities because our state government refuses to fully fund state revenue-sharing. Municipalities are forced to sacrifice services so that taxes do not skyrocket.
I am proud that the residents of Gardiner, Litchfield, Pittston, Randolph and West Gardiner think a fully funded library is important to their community and I hope to welcome Farmingdale as a full partner in 2017. I would like to thank these towns for their support. If you haven’t been to the library lately, why not? We have something for everyone.
