FARMINGTON — The Sandy River 3 will perform a free outdoor concert from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, on the lawn behind Mosher’s Meats And Seafood, U.S. Route 2.

The concert will feature a wide array of music — bluegrass, country, hillbilly rock and more.

The band is an offshoot of the local bluegrass band, the Sandy River Ramblers. The trio consists of Stan Keach (guitar), Bud Godsoe (banjo and dobro) and Julie Davenport (upright bass).

The trio is known for their vocal harmony and for Godsoe’s virtuoso instrumental stylings.

Like the Ramblers, they feature a lot of original songs about Maine, mostly penned by Keach, a nationally-known Bluegrass songwriter. Unlike the Ramblers, the trio will also do plenty of cover songs — everything from Johnny B. Goode and Jolene to Lodi and Poor Pitiful Me. Keach will also play the musical saw on at least one number.

Lee Stetson will play short sets between the trio’s sets, and will join Keach, Godsoe and Davenport on a few songs.

There are a few picnic tables, but it’s a good idea to bring a lawn chair. For more information, call 779-0544 or 397-2241.
