AUGUSTA — Lewiston CareerCenter’s retired Veterans Richard Kowalczyk and colleague Mark Cater will assist veterans during the upcoming Maine’s Hire-A-Vet Campaign. The event will kick-off Thursday, Sept. 1, at the Augusta Armory, 179 Western Ave.

Opening remarks will start at 8:30 a.m.

Kowalczyk is a Disabled Veteran Outreach Program representative, and Cater is the local veterans employment representative. Both assist veterans throughout Maine. They are working with the U. S. Department of Veterans’ Affairs, and other sponsors to provide support for employers to expand the hiring of veterans.

The event will feature a network of state and federal agencies, recruiting resources, and nonprofit connections. The goal of the 2016 campaign is to hire 100 veterans in 100 days.
