WATERVILLE — Eleven local students graduated as Certified Nurses’ Aides on Aug. 17 at Lakewood Continuing Care Center, according to a news release from Western Maine Community Action.

The students included Celynn Smyth, Camile Carter, Jordyn Carter, Madison Lawrence, Jennifer Bennett, Renee Dyer, Heather King, Leandra McAfee, Megan Sherburne and Jennifer Weston. Trudy Howell, who also graduated, was unable to attend the ceremony.

The outside pinning ceremony was held at the facility with family, friends, administrators, teachers and community partners. Students completed a collaborative program of Ready2Work provided by Lawrence Adult Education and an On-the-Job Training Program through grant funding provided by Western Maine Community Action and the Lewiston/Augusta CareerCenters.

“This is grant funding was very well spent. Our new team members are vibrant and so well prepared” Shannon Lockwood, Lakewood administrator, said in the release. “Each person made a very important life decision when they committed to this program. We are so proud of them and can’t wait to see what they accomplish!”
