MADISON — Hospice volunteer training will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, at Maplecrest Rehabilitation and Living Center, 174 Main St.

Beacon Hospice’s free seven week training is about people helping people.

Hospice volunteers can help by providing companionship to patients, help families through the process by offering bereavement companionship.

Volunteers decide how best they can serve and work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator and the hospice team. Hospice care is not about a patient’s demise, it is about their living.

To register, or for more information, call Kelly Herlihy, Beacon Hospice Volunteer Coordinator, at 621-1212 or email Kherlihy@beaconhospice.com.
