SKOWHEGAN — The Bloomfield Garden Club will hold a dedication of the Blue Star Highway Marker at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, at the Kennebec Banks Rest Area on U.S. Route 2.

The Blue Star Marker program was organized in 1947 to identify highways paying tribute to World War II servicemen and women. It has enlarged its mission to include all men and women, who had served, are serving, or would serve in the armed forces of the United States.

The program is supported by the National Garden Clubs Inc. and the Garden Club Federation of Maine. The Blue Star Marker is funded by The Bloomfield Garden Club and by many local civic organizations and individuals.

Several local organizations will participate in the dedication.
