WINTHROP — Kat Hajduk and Sarah Spahr each scored in the first and second halves, respectively, to lift Winthrop past Mountain Valley 2-0 in a Mountain Valley Conference field hockey game Friday.

Hajduk scored the first goal off a penalty stroke with 18 minutes left in the first half for Winthrop (3-0).

Adra Bean had 16 saves for the Falcons (1-2) and Corinna Coulton had four saves in the shutout.

Winthrop held a bid edge in corners, 11-3.

OAK HILL 5, BOOTHBAY 1: Kiera Young scored two goals to lift the Raiders to the MVC win in Wales.

Hayden Spencer, Meagan Sheehy and Abby Asselin scored a goal apiece for Oak Hill (3-0). Hayley Salger and Mackenzie Thibeault each made two saves.

Sydney Meader scored for Boothbay (2-1) while Erika Eames made 23 saves.

GIRLS SOCCER

MARANACOOK 2, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 1: Maranacook rallied to score the game-winning goal with less than two minutes to play to down Spruce Mountain in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B game.

Spruce Mountain jumped to an early lead on Alana Cole’s goal, but Maranacook tied it with 12 minutes left when Grace Despres took a pass from her sister Abby and found the back of the net. Lauren Clough then won it in the waning moments for Maranacook.

Calley Baker had 18 saves in goal for Spruce Mountain, which fell to 0-3 with the loss. Maranacook improves to 2-0.
