EAST VASSALBORO — The Novel Jazz Septet will perform an evening of jazz by American jazz masters Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at the Grange, 357 Main St.

This septet has performed swinging jazz around Maine for more than a decade, and doing Ellington/Strayhorn summer concerts for the last seven years. The musicians of this group have been playing straight-ahead jazz for audiences throughout Maine (and beyond) for several decades. Collectively, they share over two centuries of experience in the jazz idiom.

Musicians performing will be Herb Maine (bass), Mickey Felder (piano), David Clark (Guitar), Bryan Jones (alto), Bill Manning, Michael Mitchell (trumpet) and Barney Balch (trombone).
