A Bowdoinham man was arrested Tuesday and charged with two counts of unlawful sexual contact with a minor, Kennebec County Sheriff Ryan Reardon said in a release.

The sheriff’s office had been investigating Scott Lathan, 23, of Bowdoinham, since August in connection with an incident that occurred at a campground in Wayne, Reardon said. According to the sheriff’s office, Lathan had inappropriate sexual contact with a child under 12 on two occasions at the same campground.

Each count is a class B offense. The Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation.

Lathan was transported to the Kennebec County Correctional Facility in Augusta. His bail was set at $2,500 cash, and Lathan was ordered to have no contact with the victim or the victim’s family.
