PORTSMOUTH, N.H. — New Hampshire state police have arrested two Maine men on charges of possessing more than 20 pounds of marijuana in the trunk of their car.

Police say a trooper stopped a car Thursday for motor vehicle violations on southbound Interstate 95 in Portsmouth. A police dog alerted the trooper to an odor of drugs, which were found and seized.

Arrested and released on bail were 61-year-old Joseph Gallagher and 36-year-old Jason Gallagher. Both were from Waldoboro.

It wasn’t immediately known if they had lawyers. They are scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 12.
