WATERVILLE — “Young Frankenstein” will be staged Oct. 21-30 at The Waterville Opera House, 93 Main St. Show times are 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, and Oct. 22, 28 and 29; 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, and Oct. 30.

The musical comedy by Mel Brooks has breathed new life into his legendary film with this funny musical adaptation. Starring a local cast of more than 20 performers, “Young Frankenstein” is a horribly hilarious, madcap adventure that will have the audience in stitches.

After inheriting the family’s Transylvanian estate, Dr. Frederick Frankenstein (pronounced FRONK-en-STEEN) initially tries to avoid following in the footsteps of his infamous grandfather. But soon, along with the help of a hunchbacked sidekick, Igor (pronounced EYE-gor) and a leggy lab assistant, Inga (pronounced normally), Frederick finds himself on an adventure as he attempts to bring to life a creature of his very own. Filled with riotous villagers, dancing monsters, and a very mysterious housekeeper.

The ensemble is: Emily Cates, Sam Crockett, Jen Day, Josh Day, Dominic Fazio, Ariel Grenier, Isabelle Grignon, Robert Kruse, Sarah LaGross, Michelle Sweet, Josh Veilleux, Ethan Wiers and Greg Wiers.

Due to some adult humor, patrons may want to leave their little monsters at home.
