SOUTH ROYALTON, Vt. – A Vermont village’s water department is asking users to conserve water due to drought conditions that are affecting water levels on the White River.
The Valley News reports that the South Royalton Water Department asked residents last week to refrain from “leisurely” uses of water such as car washing and extended showers.
Water department board member Wayne Manning says the water district pumps and treats water out of the White river, but the levels are getting low.
The department is concerned about its ability to continue drawing from the river if the situation persists.
The Bennington County town of Dorset has recently begun shutting off its water supply at night until further notice due to a lack of rain water.
