It is my understanding that more than 300,000 Maine seniors rely on Medicare and our state has the highest proportion of beneficiaries nationwide. Many, if not most, of the seniors that I see in my work would have no medical insurance if not for Medicare.

We need our representatives in Washington to look out for seniors and strengthen Medicare so it is there when we need it. Congressman Bruce Poliquin, R-2nd District, says he’s on our side, but he’s voted to turn Medicare into a voucher program and bring back the prescription drug donut hole.

I’m voting for Emily Cain because she understands how vital Medicare is for our seniors in the 2nd District. She wants the government to negotiate with drug companies to lower prices, and I truly believe that she will never vote to cut benefits for those that have worked so hard to earn them.
