WATERVILLE — Gurinder Chadha, an internationally acclaimed film director, will give a talk “Religion, Culture, Identity: A Journey Through Film” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, in Ostrove Auditorium on the campus of Colby College. This is a 2016 Compagna-Sennett Lecture in Religious Studies.

Chadha is currently making a film on the partition of India along religious lines, so it is very appropriate to have her deliver the Annual Religious Studies Compagna-Sennett Lecture.

The event is sponsored by the departments of Religious Studies, Cinema Studies, and African American Studies, the Cultural Events Committee, the Center for the Arts and Humanities, the Goldfarb Center, and Phi Beta Kappa, Beta Chapter of Maine.

A public screening of “Bend It Like Beckham” is set for 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, in Olin 01, Colby College.
