Four members of the Franklin County Retired Educators delivered 10 boxes of school supplies on Friday, Oct. 14, to Spruce Mt. Elementary School in Jay. It was the group’s contribution to the 2016 Day of Caring to give something to Franklin County towns. Past Days of Caring have served local libraries, children’s events and weatherization projects.
Retired educators contributed funds and member Joanne Dunlap made the purchases. Supplies included markers, white boards, crayons and others items used in elementary classrooms. Some members also volunteered in local schools at the request of practicing teachers.
Other members helping with the delivery were Craigen Healey, Karen Mitchell and Arline Amos. Receiving the contribution on behalf of the staff were Jenn Stone, guidance counselor; Debra Timberlake, fourth-grade teacher; Carrie Mitchell, third-grade teacher; and Principal Chris Hollingsworth.
