DAMARISOCTTA — The second annual Pet Food, Treats and Toys Drive will be held Tuesday, Nov. 1, and Friday, Nov. 18, at Spectrum Generations Coastal Community Center, 521 Main St. Donations of dog and cat food, pet toys and supplies will be accepted to ensure homebound pet owners can enjoy a happy and plentiful Thanksgiving with their pets.

The Thanksgiving pet care packages will be distributed to MOW Animeal program participants on Nov. 23.

Funded in part by charitable community donations and grants from Meals on Wheels America, the Animeals program provides food for the pets of seniors and disable adults receiving Meals On Wheels. Meals On Wheels program works to supply a nutritious hot meal for those homebound because of old age or disabilities.

With Animeals, elderly pet owners who are already a part of the Spectrum Generations program also receive food for their companions.

The purpose of the program is to help homebound seniors keep and provide for their pets without the cost of giving up their own food or necessities.

The most needed items include cat and/or dog food ad treats and pet safe toys.

Monetary donations for the ongoing purchase of bulk dog and cat food are appreciated at any time throughout the year. Checks should be made payable to Spectrum Generations with a notation for LC’s Animeal Program and mailed to 521 Main St., Suite 8, Damariscotta, ME 04555.
