The city of Augusta and the Augusta Downtown Alliance has announced its Riverfront Holiday Events 2016 set for Saturday.
Santa’s Castle will be open from 1:15 to 5 p.m., and a scavenger hunt with downtown businesses is planned.
OTHER EVENTS
• At Key Plaza: Hay wagon rides, noon-4:30 p.m.
• At 335 Water St.: Write a letter to Santa, 1-4:30 p.m., and holiday crafts for kids, 1-5 p.m.
• At Market Square: Live reindeer, 1-4 p.m.; Salvation Army Band, 2 p.m., Penney Memorial Church Chorus, 3 p.m., Encore Dance, 3:30 p.m., Dance Unlimited, 4 p.m., Birdie Katz to sing, 4:45 p.m., Miss Maine, 5 p.m.; and holiday tree lighting, 5:05 p.m.
• At Waterfront Park: Fireworks, 5:15 p.m.
• Augusta Recreation will sell hamburgers, hot dogs, drinks
The alliance also will host Augusta’s first ever River of Trees: Downtown Christmas Tree Raffle from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 241-249 Water St., formerly Stacy’s. Admission is $2 for entry, and raffle tickets are 50 cents each. This event starts Friday and continues through Sunday. Proceeds will benefit the alliance and the Colonial Theatre.
Across the river, Christmas at the Fort will be from 1 to 4 p.m. at Old Fort Western.
