WATERVILLE — The investigation into the case of a body found in September in the Kennebec River near the Hathaway Creative Center has concluded, but the cause and manner of death are undetermined, police said Tuesday.

Lexxi T. Sironen, 43, was found dead in the river by a Brookfield Power Facility worker, who reported a body floating in a reservoir by the dam around 8:15 a.m. Sept. 6.

Police said Sironen was living as a transient at the time, meaning she was not homeless but was moving from place to place. Friends and relatives said she had been staying at a family member’s home in the Skowhegan area.

Detective Sgt. Lincoln Ryder said Tuesday that the Waterville Police Department is not releasing any further details on the investigation unless new information comes to light.

He would not say why the cause and manner of death was called undetermined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Friends of Sironen said she was kind and devoted and loved her life. Chelsea Letourneau, her friend of eight years, said Sironen “would do anything for anybody” and helped friends in times of need. Letourneau didn’t think Sironen would commit suicide, saying “she loved her life.”
