WAYNE — The Cary Memorial Library will present “A Child’s Christmas in Wales” with Andrew Harris at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at the Williams House, 14 Old Winthrop Road.

Harris, chair of the Theatre Department at USM, and executive director of Deertrees Theatre, created a lively sketch of Charles Dickens for the Williams House last February.

A graduate of the University of London and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, in England, Harris worked in both professional theatre and arts education. With a move to Maine, he has continued his passion for both, was the director of LA Arts in Lewiston and has acted in productions with Portland Stage Company, the Public Theatre and on film with The History Channel.

Harris returns to the Williams House for a dramatic reading of “A Child’s Christmas in Wales”by Dylan Thomas. “Thomas’s piece, a 45-minute prose poem, sounds like a cello when read aloud, deep and playful.

The program will be followed by a reception featuring light refreshments. The event is free and open to the public, but seating is limited, so reservations are recommended.
