MOUNT VERNON — A ceremony will take place at noon Saturday at Lakeview Cemetery, also known as Lake Side Cemetery. This is the second year that the cemetery will participate in this national event.

The goal for cemetery is to raise enough funds to place eight remembrance wreaths on the headstones.

Helen Sprague, coordinator of the event, is the veterans’ chairwoman for the Abigail Wolcott Ellsworth chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Windsor, Conn.

Bob Grenier will perform the ceremony.

Besides the ceremonial seven wreaths, Maj. Paul Dearborn Blake will be honored. He was a veteran of the Revolutionary war.

To honor a veteran who is buried there or have a veteran honored, contact Grenier at the Mount Vernon Town Hall at 293-2379.
