The York County Sheriff’s Office and the Maine Warden Service continued searching for a Newfield man who was last seen on Feb. 3, walking in the woods behind his home.
Sheriff William King issued a press release late Wednesday that said John Scabia, 34, was last seen walking in a wooded area behind his home at 96 Stone Road.
Scabia is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall, 180 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a blue fleece jacket and hiking boots.
Scabia is an experienced outdoorsman but has never disappeared for so long, King said. A ground search of the area did not turn up any clues.
King warned residents not to conduct their own searches for Scabia.
“Let the experienced deputies and game wardens conduct the search, especially with the looming weather approaching,” he said.
Anyone with information concerning his whereabouts should contact the York County Sheriff’s Office at 324-1111.
