A tractor-trailer crash overnight on Interstate 95 in the Plymouth-Newport area has caused highway traffic to be reduced to one lane heading south as crews work to remove the overturned vehicle, which was carrying bagged potatoes.

The tractor-trailer went off went off the road Tuesday night and into the median, according to a news release from Steve McCausland, spokesman for the Department of Public Safety. The crash was reported about 11 p.m., according to an emergency dispatch.

Workers would be offloading the tractor-trailer’s cargo of bagged potatoes, and then its big rig will be removed, a process that’s expected to take several hours, according to McCausland.
