Clinton Elementary School held its annual Souper Bowl Food Drive Jan. 30-Feb. 3, the week leading up to the NFL Super Bowl.

Classrooms were evenly divided into two teams, the Patriots and the Falcons and the teams competed daily to see which team could bring in the most donated food items.

Donations were counted by the Student Council members daily and posted on a paper scoreboard in the lobby where the collection was displayed.

This year the teams collected 947 items. To add to that number, employees from the Clinton Town Office brought in another 50-plus items putting the school over the 1,000 mark.

On Feb. 6, the day after Super Bowl Sunday, student council members and teacher Marcia Buck walked to the Clinton Community Food Bank and unloaded the goods, filling the pantry.
