A Massachusetts man died Sunday in a snowmobiling crash in the Franklin County town of Eustis, authorities said.

Dennis Picard, 60, of South Chatham, Massachusetts, was killed about 3 p.m. when he lost control of his snowmobile on a sharp corner and hit a tree, according to a news release Monday from the Maine Warden Service. Picard was on an ITS trail near Landers Farm Road and was the last snowmobiler in a group, the warden service said.

Picard was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders from NorthStar Ambulance, according to the warden service, which is still investigating the crash. Also responding was the Eustis Fire Department. The state Medical Examiner’s Office will be examining Picard’s body, the release said.

The incident marks the seventh fatal snowmobile crash this winter season, according to the warden service.
