AUGUSTA — A panel discussion, This is ME, Too: From Everywhere to New Mainer, will begin at noon Monday, March 6, at The Holocaust and Human Rights Center of Maine, Michael Klahr Center, University of Maine at Augusta, 46 University Drive.
The event, hosted by The Mid-Maine Global Forum and the Holocaust and Human Rights Center, will include discussion with three new Mainers: Somali refugee Abdi Iftin, Iraqi refugee Nawar Al Obaidi and Cambodian refugee Makara Meng.
The featured speakers will talk about their experiences coming to Maine, misconceptions and stories not heard in the news about their home countries, and they will answer questions.
A sandwich and salad buffet lunch will being at 11:30 a.m. and will be cost $10. RSVP is required by Wednesday, March 1. To RSVP, call 621-3530 or email jordan.bannister@maine.edu.
