READFIELD — Maine author George A. Smith will be the guest speaker at the Readfield Historical Society’s meeting set for 1 p.m. Saturday, March 18, at Gile Hall, 8 Old Kents Hill Road.
The presentation will follow a brief business meeting and election of officers.
Smith served as executive director of the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine for 18 years. In 2010 he left the alliance to write full time.
Smith is a Winthrop native, a graduate of the University of Maine, and has lived in Mount Vernon for 38 years. Smith’s books will be available for purchase after the program and he will stay for book signings, while the society serves refreshments.
