AUGUSTA — The Maine State Museum will host Roll & Go at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday, June 24, in the Cultural Building, 230 State St. The event is part of the museum’s Family Fun Days.

The performances also mark the museum’s participation in the Kennebec Valley Chamber’s Whatever Family Festival. The museum is open free of charge from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Roll & Go is a Maine group of men and women who sing sea shanties and other songs of the sea. The shanties are generally sung unaccompanied, combining strong solo work with tight harmonies on the refrain and chorus. The ballads feature instrumental back-ups on banjo, guitar, concertina, washtub bass and penny whistle.
