The body of a 54-year-old man was found Sunday morning on Temple Street near Portland’s Old Port, and police are calling his death suspicious.

Police said the man was discovered by a passer-by at 4:43 a.m. The body was outside 19 Temple St., at the entrance to One City Center.

An autopsy was to be performed Sunday by the Office of Chief Maine Medical Examiner to determine the cause and manner of his death, according to police.

His identity is being withheld pending notification of his family.

Police have asked anyone with information to call the Portland Police Department at 874-8575.
