OAKLAND — The Chewonki Foundation will present Fur, Feathers, & Feet: Introduction to Birds and Mammals at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 16, at the Oakland Public Library, 18 Church St.
Attendees can discover the differences and similarities between birds and mammals as the foundation encourages active learning by dressing two students in bear and bird costumes. Participants can handle and examine beak, foot and feather specimens to get a closer look at each animal’s special adaptations. Chewonki’s Mallard duck and a live, non-releasable mammal bring these ideas to life.
