WINTHROP — Sean Whalen scored 21 points and the Madison Area Memorial High School boys basketball team landed a big late-season victory, topping Winthrop 55-43 in a Mountain Valley Conference game Thursday.
Whalen knocked down eight shots from the field for the Bulldogs (9-8), who took command of an 11-11 game after the first quarter with a 17-8 advantage in the second.
Matt Oliver added eight points and Matt Shibley had seven for Madison.
Cam Wood led the Ramblers (12-4) with 15 points, while Sam Figueroa scored nine.
