HALLOWELL — The Down With The Crown Committee will launch its first silent art auction from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, at Joyce’s restaurant, 192 Water St.

The fundraiser will feature original art created by local, town celebrities and will include a cash bar and complimentary hors d’oeuvres.

Attendees can bid on artwork from local celebrities, town officials, artists and business owners including Chris and Jen Cart, Matt Morrill, Betsy Sweet, Sam Webber and Mayor Mark Walker. Other featured artists include city counselors and Slates Restaurant staff.

Proceeds from the silent auction will support the events and activities planned by the Down With the Crown Committee, such as a downtown kickoff event the weekend of April 7-8 with live music, a town time capsule, painted murals to line the construction fencing during the project, scavenger hunts, cash mobs and a song-writing contest for an official Down With The Crown theme song.
