AUGUSTA — A Battle of the Sexes will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, at the A-Copi Tennis Center on the Leighton Road. Women will compete against men and prizes will be given for the best female and male players.

Sponsored by the center’s Social Committee, the Valentine Mixer “Surrendering to Chocolate” will feature desserts, delicacies and the Cupid Punch, a red raspberry drink with sherbet.

Dan Veilleux, the center’s club pro, will arrange the matches pitting competitive players against each other. Each participant will play for one and a half hours, sitting out every other round. Two rounds will be men against women and possibly one round of mixed doubles, depending on the number of people signing up for the event and the mix of players.

While off the court, players will have a choice of bourbon pecan pie, chocolate layer cake, chocolate bourbon pie and cheeses with exotic mustards. In addition to the Cupid Punch, water also will be available.

The event invites 16 men and 16 women. The cost will be $10 or $15 for members and $20 for nonmembers. Proceeds will benefit the children’s scholarship fund to help with cost of lessons, more.
