Report says NFL plans heavy fine for Dallas owner

According to The New York Times, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell plans to fine Jerry Jones, the Dallas Cowboys’ owner, millions of dollars for conduct detrimental to the NFL.

The root of the discipline was Jones’ challenging of Goodell’s contract extension and public opposition to the six-game suspension for Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.

Goodell will announce the punishment for Jones in the coming weeks, according to the report.

nNFL Media reported that the Minnesota Vikings don’t plan to use the franchise tag on quarterback Case Keenum, who would become a free agent March 14 after leading the team to the NFC championship game.
