GREENE — A home was destroyed early Sunday morning when a car caught fire in a garage beneath the home.
The fire was reported about 5 a.m. at a home on Island View Drive.
The Sabattus Fire Department said the home’s occupants were alerted by a smoke detector and safely left the home.
There were no reports of injury.
Officials said the home is a total loss. The state fire marshal’s office is investigating.
