Snowboarder Miles Silverman of Brunswick won two events at the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association’s national championships last week at Lake Placid, New York.

Silverman, who represented Hobart College, finished first in both of his runs Thursday to win the men’s slalom with a combined time of 51.25 seconds. On Saturday, he placed first in both runs of the men’s giant slalom to win with a combined time of 1:36.66.

Sophie Laukli of Yarmouth and Willson Moore of Freeport helped New England win the Alaska Cup competition over nine other regions at the cross-country skiing junior national championships last week at the Soldier Hollow Nordic Center in Utah.

Laukli, 17, placed eighth of 78 skiers in a 10-kilometer freestyle race and 10th of 80 in a 5K classic to earn all-America honors. She also contributed to a second-place showing in a three-skier relay for girls 16 and 17 years old.

Moore, 18, placed 13th of 46 in the 10K classic and 22nd of 44 in the 15K freestyle. His relay team was fifth of 18 teams.

Kaelyn Woods, a sophomore at Bates College from New Gloucester, placed 23rd of 40 skiers in the women’s 15K freestyle Saturday at the NCAA skiing championships in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.

Her finish was the best NCAA performance by a Bates skier since Beth Taylor placed 19th in 2012. Woods also placed 26th in the 5K classical race Thursday.

Andrew Gardner of Scarborough High signed a letter of intent Monday with NCAA Division II Merrimack College. Gardiner, a senior, has competed in track and field, and cross country for the Red Storm.
