CLERMONT, Fla. — Samantha Valdivia hit a two-run double to start a five-run second inning as Bowdoin beat Juanita 11-3 in six innings to complete a sweep of its three softball games Friday.
Bowdoin (13-3) started its day with a 2-0 win over Plymouth State (7-6), then earned a 9-2 victory over Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
Against Juanita (4-6), Lauren O’Shea added an RBI single and scored on a double by Caroline Rice as Bowdoin opened a 5-0 lead. Shea finished with three hits and scored twice.
Ruby Siltanen pitched a complete game, allowing five hits while striking out four.
Claire McCarthy broke a scoreless tie against Plymouth State in the bottom of the sixth, driving in Maddie Rouhana with a single, and Ruby Siltanen followed with an RBI single.
Kate Hoadley pitched a six-hit shutout with six strikeouts.
BASEBALL
HARTFORD 5, MAINE 3: Jackson Olson hit a tiebreaking two-run single as part of a four-run seventh inning as the Hawks (3-14) rallied to beat the Black Bears (4-18) in West Hartford, Connecticut.
Maine got all its runs in the top of the first on an RBI single by Jonathan Bennett and a two-run double by Hernen Sardinas.
BENEDICTINE (ILL.) 5, BOWDOIN 3: Sam Kerr singled home the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth as the Eagles (7-3) beat the Polar Bears (6-6) in Auburndale, Florida.
Joe Gentile had three hits for Bowdoin, while Connor Lee drove in two runs.
Jack Wilhoite scored on a groundout by Lee in the sixth to give Bowdoin a 3-1 lead, but the Eagles tied it in the seventh.
WOMEN’S LACROSSE
COLBY 15, CONNECTICUT COLLEGE 3: Sasha Fritts scored seven goals and the Mules (3-3, 1-3 NESCAC) got nine straight goals in the second half to pull away from the Camels (2-5, 0-4) in Waterville.
Taylor Moore added two goals, while Kendall Smith and Kelsey Bowen each had a goal and two assists.
BRIDGEWATER STATE 10, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 9: Elizabeth Ettridge scored five goals, including the go-ahead goal with 3:40 left as the Bears (4-2) edged the Nor’easters (3-4) in Biddeford.
Molly Camelo and Anna Stowell each scored three times for UNE. Stowell’s third goal tied the game at 9-9 with 5:21 remaining.
Keara Dwyer added two assists, and Maritza Nary stopped nine shots for the Nor’easters.
