LAKE PLACID, N.Y. — Salve Regina junior goaltender Blake Wojtala backed up his first-team All-American selection this week to send the Seahawks to the national championship game.

Wojtala made 54 saves and No. 6 Salve Regina set the first half of the NCAA Division III national championship game with a 3-0 win over No. 4 Wisconsin-Stevens Point in the Frozen Four opener Friday afternoon at Herb Brooks Arena. The Seahawks (22-5-2) will play the winner between Colby and No. 1 St. Norbert in Saturday night’s title game.

Freshman Erik Udahl scored a pair of goals, including one on the power play in the second period, to stake Wojtala out to the only lead he would need. Danny Philbrick added an empty-net goal for Salve Regina with 2:28 remaining.

The Seahawks are participating the program’s first NCAA tournament under first-year head coach Zech Klann.
