Mind, Body, Soul Wellness Center, LLC, plans to host a grand opening celebration from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 7 at its business site, 28 Main St. in Belgrade.

Owners Karen and Stephen Hardy, Belgrade residents since 2015, will open the doors to the public and be available to answer questions and talk about the services they offer at the center. Refreshments will be offered from a local bakery. The event is free, and door prizes will be given.

Stephen Hardy is a Reiki master teacher and a psychic tarot reader. Karen Hardy is a Reiki master healer and mental health counselor. Since moving to Belgrade, the couple has steadily built their businesses, which include Karen Hardy’s counseling practice, the Wellness Center, and Stephen Hardy’s business, Hardy’s Home Repair.

Attorney Margaret Machaiek, from the law firm Briggs & Wholey, LLC, located in Rockport, has been elected to the board of governors of the Maine Trial Lawyers Association.

The board, composed of 30 governors selected from the state trial bar, is the governing body of the MTLA and is responsible for formulating the budget and directing all association policy and lobbying efforts.

Machaiek has been member of the Maine Bar since 2013. After serving a term as a law clerk to Justice Warren Silver, of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court, she joined Briggs & Wholey as an associate in 2015. Since then, she has been recognized annually as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers based on nominations from her peers. A Rockland resident, Machaiek earned her law degree from the University of Maine School of Law, where she graduated magna cum laude, and her undergraduate degree from Brown University. She has served on the Maine Rules of Evidence Advisory Committee and MTLA’s Amicus Committee in recent years.
