Maine State Police have taken over a late night investigation into a car crash in North Yarmouth that left at least one person injured.

A dispatcher for the Cumberland County Regional Communications Center said state police were called in Thursday evening after a motor vehicle crashed in the vicinity of 189 Mill Road in North Yarmouth around 9:30 p.m.

State police typically are brought in to oversee a crash on town roads if someone has been killed or seriously injured, but the severity of injuries and the number of people hurt could not be determined. A message left with the state trooper handling the accident was not returned.
