U.S. Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, is one of three senators from outside Texas to be invited to the funeral for former first lady Barbara Bush.
Collins was to travel with first lady Melania Trump to Houston on Saturday for the funeral.
Collins first met Mrs. Bush in 1994 when she was running for Maine governor and Mrs. Bush campaigned with her, according to News Center Maine, WCSH-WLBZ.
Collins visited the Bushes at their summer home in Kennebunkport each year.
