BANGOR — Skowhegan pitcher Sydney Ames made her first start of the season an impressive one, limiting Bangor to just two hits in the Indians’ 4-1 win over the Rams in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A game Tuesday afternoon.

Annie Cooke had a triple and Julia Steeves added a double as Skowhegan (2-0) broke open a scoreless game with a three-run sixth inning.

Rowan Andrews had a double for Bangor (0-3).

OAK HILL 2, WINTHROP 1: Mahala Smith scored what would hold up as the winning run on Kiera Young’s squeeze bunt in the bottom of the sixth to lift the Raiders to the Mountain Valley Conference win in Wales.

Abby Nadeau secured the victory with a diving catch for the game’s final out, stranding a pair of Winthrop (1-1) runners in scoring position.

Sadie Waterman pitched two innings in relief to earn the win for Oak Hill (3-0).

CARRABEC 11, DIRIGO 0: Samantha LeBeau pitched a no-hitter with 10 strikeouts to lead the Cobras to the MVC win in North Anson.

Bailey Dunphy went 4 for 4 with a double and two RBIS for Carrabec (1-1). Paige Giroux added two hits and three RBIs.

Dirigo fell to 0-1.

WATERVILLE 2, MCI 0: Molly Wasilewski threw her first career no-hitter to lead the Purple Panthers to the KVAC B win, their first of the season.

After Waterville (1-3) scored twice in the top of the first, Wasilewski struck out 15 to make the early lead hold up.

Hannah LeClair, Coby Dangler and McKayla Nelson each had two hits for Waterville.

MCI fell to 0-3.

BASEBALL

WATERVILLE 18, MCI 5, 5 INN.: Dan Gaunce had three hits and drove in four runs to lead the Purple Panthers to the KVAC B win in Pittsfield.

David Barre also drove in a pair of runs for Waterville (3-1), which scored 10 runs in the top of the first inning. Kody Vallee and Kai Raabideau each had a pair of hits.

Vallee and Brock Jolicoeur combined to three-hit MCI (0-3).

MOUNTAIN VALLEY 8, WINTHROP 7, 9 INN.: Matt Brown drove Anthony Mazzon home with an RBI single in the top of the ninth as the Falcons grabbed the season-opening MVC win in Winthrop.

Garrett Garbarini had a pair of triples for Mountain Valley (1-0).

Winthrop (0-1), which scored in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings, got a triple and three RBIs from Carson Camick, who pitched six innings in relief.

GIRLS LACROSSE

LAWRENCE 7, ERSKINE 5: Lexi Lewis scored two goals to lead the Bulldogs to a victory over the Eagles in Fairfield.

Cassandra Poli, Anna Castonguay, Elsie Suttie, Nora Buck and Savannah Weston each tallied goals for Lawrence (1-0). Sierra Weston had 12 saves.

Jordan Linscott scored three goals for Erskine (0-1), while Joanna Linscott added two goals.

BRUNSWICK 10, CONY 5: Lauren Coniff, Catherine Silva, Sarah Caron, Kami Lambert and Kiara Henry all tallied goals for the Rams in a loss to the Dragons in Brunswick.

Kat Biasuz had 12 saves for Cony (1-1).

Beth Labbe had four goals for Brunswick (1-1), while Mikayla Aschbrenner had 10 saves.
