NEWPORT — There were big bats throughout the lineup for the Nokomis softball team Saturday afternoon. None bigger than Aren Herrick’s.

Herrick hit a grand slam as part of a four-hit game, leading the Warriors (4-3) to a 16-4 victory over Maine Central Institute on Saturday in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference B game.

Maci Leali had a double and triple among her four hits for Nokomis, which collected 21 hits, while Britney Bubar had four singles, Alyssa Ellis had three and Chelsea Crockett had two. Bubar also fanned five batters in the circle.

Emily Linkletter had a double for MCI (0-6).


 GARDINER 11, WATERVILLE 5: Casey Bourque had four hits, including a double, to lead the Tigers to the KVAC B victory in Gardiner.

Cole Lawrence and Alic Shorey added two hits apiece for Gardiner (4-2), which scored four runs in the third and fourth innings to break open a 1-1 tie. Shorey struck out six on the mound.

Kai Radideau had three hits for the Purple Panthers (4-2).


PORTLAND 15, CONY 5: Isabella Moore scored three goals, leading the Bulldogs (2-2) to the win in Augusta.

Chloe Kilbride, Emma Merrill and Annika Moore added two goals apiece for Portland, while Abby Krieckhaus made five saves.

Sierra Clark scored a pair of goals to lead the Rams (2-2), while Lauren Coniff, Faith Leathers-Pouliot and Sarah Caron had a goal apiece. Kat Biasuz made eight saves.


WINSLOW 16, JOHN BAPST 4: Bryce Hillier, Landon Hotham and Colby Nadeau each had a hat trick to pace the Black Raiders to the win in Winslow.

Jared Lambert and Issac Lambrecht scored two goals apiece for Winslow (3-1) while Kyle Gurney, Jamison Carey and Ronan Drummond had one each. Alex Demers and Sean Rooney combined to make seven saves.

Colby Brown had three goals for John Bapst (0-2). Cooper Martin stopped six shots.
