SKOWHEGAN — Whether Ashley Alward or Sydney Ames was in the circle, the Cony softball team didn’t have an answer.

Alward and Ames combined on a no-hitter, striking out 14 to lead Skowhegan to a 10-0 victory in Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference action Wednesday.

Ames added two doubles for the Indians (8-0), while Alyssa Everett had three singles and Sydney Reed had two hits, including a triple.

Cony fell to 2-6.

ERSKINE 10, MARANACOOK 3: MaKenzie Strout had two doubles, a single and two RBIs to lead the Eagles to the KVAC win in Readfield.

Chiara Mahoney added a double and a single for Erskine (2-6) and Hunter Hoague had two singles and three RBIs. Madison Boynton and Kayla Hodgkins also had two singles apiece.

Brooke Stratton and Natalie Costa each singled for Maranacook (3-6).

NOKOMIS 10, FOXCROFT 8: Alexis Allard hit a two-run double in the first inning and the Warriors were on their way to the Class B North win in Newport.

After falling to previously unbeaten Foxcroft (6-1) on Tuesday, Nokomis (5-4) rapped out 11 hits in the rematch. Abby Laprade had three hits for the Warriors.

Cailin Seavy had three hits for Foxcroft.

MESSALONSKEE 7, HAMPDEN 2: The Eagles used big innings to post the KVAC A win in Hampden.

Taylor Bernier had a pair of hits for Messalonskee (7-2), which scored twice in the second, three times in the third and twice more in the seventh. Hannah Cummings had a double and a single in the win.

Eagle pitchers Danielle Hall and Katelyn Douglass combined on a six-hitter with 10 strikeouts to counter a home run and two doubles from Hampden (2-6) slugger Brooklynn Scott.

GIRLS LACROSSE

ERSKINE 9, LAWRENCE 7: Jordan Linscott scored four goals to help the Eagles earn their first win of the season while handing the Bulldogs their first loss of the season.

Joanna Linscott added two goals while Alyssa Savage, Cassidy Wade and Tori Grasse each had one apiece for Erskine (1-2). Ashlyn Wing made seven saves.

Cassandra Poli had a hat trick for Lawrence (4-1) while Lexi Lewis chipped in two goals and Nora Buck and Lexi Dumont had one each. Sierra Weston made nine saves.

WINSLOW 15, BANGOR 1: Silver Clukey and Savannah Joler each scored four goals to lead the Black Raiders to a victory over the Rams in Winslow.

Taylor Rodriguez, Sarah Stevens and Hailey Grenier each had two goals for Winslow (2-0), while Carrie Selwood added a goal. Selwood also had a save.

Giovanna Tompkins scored the lone goal for Bangor (0-3).

BASEBALL

SKOWHEGAN 9, CONY 2: Ryan Savage had two doubles and Colby Esty pitched a complete-game five hitter to lead the Indians to the KVAC A win at home.

Esty struck out eight on the mound. Kiel Lachapelle had three singles for Skowhegan (5-4) while Colby Miller and Aidan Louder had two singles each.

Mike Levesque had a double and a single for Cony (2-6).

WINTHROP 7, MT. ABRAM 1: Ryan Baird pitched a complete game two-hitter to lead the Ramblers to the Mountain Valley Conference win in Salem.

Jackson Ladd had two singles for Winthrop (4-3).

Bryce Werzanski had a double and a single for the Roadrunners (4-4).

LISBON 11, BRIDGEWAY 5: The Greyhounds broke a 2-2 tie with an eight-run fifth inning en route to the MVC victory in Madison.

Lucas Francise had two singles and two doubles for Lisbon (7-0), while D.J. Douglass and Brandon Keith-Williams had two hits apiece.

Evan Holzworth had a single and double for the Bandits (4-4), while Jacob Atwood had two singles.

WATERVILLE 6, LAWRENCE 3: The Purple Panthers broke a tie with three runs in the fourth inning for the KVAC B win in Waterville.

Kody Valley had four hits, including a double, to lead Waterville (5-3). Cody Pelllerin added a pair of hits and pitched the seventh to earn the save.

Lawrence (3-5) was limited to just two hits by Kai Rabideau and Pellerin.
