UNITY — Nancy Olmstead will be the guest speaker at the next Sebasticook Regional Land Trust speaker series set for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, at 93 Main Coffee Shop, at 93 Main St.

Olmstead is an invasive plant biologist with the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry. She coordinates the iMapInvasives online mapping program, trains partners and volunteers, performs field identification and assessment of invasive plant infestations and makes recommendations for infestation management. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in biology from Cornell University and her Master of Science in plant biology from the University of Vermont Field Naturalist Program.

Olmstead’s topic will be invasive plant management in the context of creating and maintaining healthy natural habitats in the Sebasticook River Watershed. Those who attend can learn how invasive plants can dramatically alter habitats that are relied upon by native plants and wildlife.

A $5 donation is suggested.
