Joseph Ascrizzi, founder of Freedom Art Works, of Freedom, will hold an informal conversation about his art with Alan Crichton, of Liberty, at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, at The Maine Art Gallery, 15 Warren St., in Wiscasset, according to a news release from the Maine Art Gallery Wiscasset.

Ascrizzi will talk with Crichton about his life and personal philosophy of art, his use of unusual materials and the powerful, personal influences shaping his career.

Crichton, an artist, musician and writer who has been a leader in the Belfast arts renaissance for decades, is co-founder of Waterfall Arts, a nonprofit community arts organization, with a statewide reputation for excellence.

Ascrizzi has an array of his sculptures and paintings on exhibit at the gallery through Friday, Aug. 17, along with works by his son, Max Ascrizzi, and brother, the late Tony Ascrizzi.

Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thursday through Saturday.
