ALTON, N.H. — Authorities in New Hampshire have charged a boy with murder in the fatal shooting of a 50-year-old woman.

The New Hampshire Department of Justice said police received a call Friday at 7:30 a.m. to report a shooting at a home in Alton.

Officials said 50-year-old Lizette Eckert and 48-year-old James Eckert were found inside the home with gunshot wounds. Lizette Eckert was pronounced dead at the scene. James Eckert was taken to a hospital to be treated for his wounds. He was listed in critical condition.

Authorities said they arrested the boy two hours after the bodies were discovered. He was charged with murder and attempted murder.

Officials did not provide the relationship between the boy and the two adults.
